Lead 11 & Over Performance Coach and Shropshire County Coach
The Shrewsbury Club is looking for a driven performance tennis coach to drive and lead the programme for our 11+ programme. The club’s tennis operation is managed by inspire2coach, a leading tennis provider that specialises in coach education and club programmes. The company runs more than 30 tennis facilities across the Midlands and UK including two Performance Centres at the Shrewsbury Club and the University of Warwick. This is an exciting role for the right person to develop the programme at this prestigious club in Shropshire and link with Tennis Shropshire teams and county coaching.
The Shrewsbury Club
The Shrewsbury Club is Shropshire’s leading sports club with 14 tennis courts (6 indoor acrylic courts, 4 outdoor clay, 4 outdoor hard courts), a large gym, swimming pool with sauna and steam room, exercise studios, Imagine Spa, the Hub bistro and cafe bar. The club’s facilities have recently undergone a huge £1.2 million refurbishment. Tennis is an integral part of the club with an active adult membership, team tennis, various junior tennis programmes and an active wheelchair tennis section. We are an LTA Grant Funded Centre and the player base is strong – players competing at National, Regional and County level.
The role will commence from late January or as early as practical. You will report to Adam Wharf, Head of Performance and will work closely with The Shrewsbury Club, Director of Tennis Simon Haddleton and the inspire2coach management team. The role will be on court with a majority of indoor lessons. The successful applicant will start immediately with 12 – 15 hours on the programme and 8 – 10 individual clients who are currently awaiting an appointment, with guaranteed further full time work available. There will also be the possibility for the right candidate to also become a key coach working with Tennis Shropshire delivering county training and travelling with county teams.
- The self-employed financial package will be an agreed hourly rate based on experience

- LTA level 4 qualification, high standard level 3 applicants may be considered
